Belladonna is regarded as unsafe in practice, but has been used as a sedative in bronchal spasms in asthma and whooping cough; and as a remedy for cold, hay fever, motion sickness and as a pain killer. According to the bottle, the tablets could be either "eaten like candy" or given dissolved in water. The brown glass bottle with bakalite screw top indicate the bottle was used in the late 19th century and early 20th century.
