Square cardboard box containing Grindelia Robusta from the late 19th century. Grindelia robusta has been used since the mid 19th century to treat illnesses ranging from asthma to skin disorders.

Also know as tar weed, grindelia robusta was used in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by mixing it in water for the patient to drink or as a wash for skin disorders such as poison ivy, or sores. It was also used to treat asthma, cough, as an anti malarial treatment and to reduce enlargement of the spleen.

Today, grindelia robusta is still used as a homeopathic remedy for many of the same illnesses
